Martin County School District
The mission of the Martin County School District Grants Office is to assist schools and individual teachers find and apply for funds for projects and programs that fit each school's School Improvement Plan and curriculum, and to locate and apply for funding for district initiatives.

Best Buy TEACH
AWARDS
The Best Buy TEACH AWARD
recognizes creative uses of interactive technology in K-12
classrooms by awarding teachers with Best Buy gift cards. Best Buy
will award 1,200 - $2,500
gift cards and 36 - $15,000 gift cards this year. The deadline to
apply is September 10, 2006.
Braitmayer Foundation
The Braitmayer Foundation
supports K-12 education by providing funds up to $35,000 for
curricular and school reform initiatives, and for the preparation of and
professional development
opportunities for teachers, particularly those which encourage people of
high ability and diverse
background to enter and remain in K-12 teaching. Submission deadlines:
June 1st and
November 15th.
Captain Planet Foundation
The
Captain Planet Foundation
offers year-round funding opportunities and special
programs
for environmental
projects. On-line applications are due September 30, December 31, March
31,
and June 30.
Coca
Cola Foundation
The Coca Cola Foundation supports classroom teaching and learning through
innovative K-12
public school programs, teacher development programs, and
smaller projects dealing with
specific activities in the elementary and
secondary classroom. Applications accepted year-
round.
Dollar General Literacy Grants
Dollar General is offering its
Back to School Grant
in which two $5,000
grants per
state will be awarded for your school's library or literacy program.
The submission deadline for
the 2006 Back to School Grant is August 11, 2006.
Dollar
General's Community Grants Program
focuses on youth literacy initiatives; typical grant
range is $2500 or less; submission deadlines for 2006 are March 5th, June
5th, September 5th,
and December 5th.
ETA/Cuisenaire
ETA/Cuisenaire
is offering a classroom makeover with a grand prize of
$10,000 and two runner-
up prizes of $1,000 and $500. The grand prize includes books, reading
and teacher support
materials, and a full day district-wide professional development with a
literacy specialist. The
deadline to apply is July 15, 2006.
NCTM Mathematics Grant
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
is offering this grant opportunity of
awards up to $3,000 to NCTM members to create senior high classroom
materials or lessons
connecting mathematics to other fields. The deadline to submit
applications is November 3,
2006.
The National Education
Association Foundation
The National Education Association Foundation (NEA)
offers $2,000 grants to individual public
school teachers and
public education support professionals (para-educators, school bus
drivers, maintenance and custodial staff, food services staff, school nurses
and student
services workers, clerical and office assistants, school security officers,
and technicians) for
participation in high-quality professional development experiences, such as
summer institutes
or action research. Applications are accepted and reviewed three times
a year: February 1st for
June 15th notification; June 1st for November 15th notification; and October
15th for March 15th
notification.
Kids in Need Teacher Grants
The Shopa Kids in Need
Teacher Grants provide K-12 educators with funding to provide
innovative learning opportunities for their students. 200-300
grants will be awarded in the range
of $100 - $500 each. The deadline to apply is September 30, 2006.
Toyota TAPESTRY
Grant Program
The Toyota TAPESTRY Grant program
awards grants of up to $10,000 and
mini-grants of $2,500
each to K-12 science teachers. Grants are awarded in
three categories: Environmental Science
Education, Physical Science Application,
and Literacy and Science Education. The deadline to
apply is January 18, 2007.

Incentive Program (2006 - District Initiative)
Funds provided through this 3- year grant will provide middle and high
school students with
additional opportunities for academic success through participation in higher
level Advanced
Placement and International Baccalaureate courses.
Captain Planet Foundation
(2006 - Indiantown Middle School)
The
Captain Planet Foundation
offers year-round funding opportunities and special
programs
for environmental
projects.
Emergency Response
and Crisis
Management Program (2006 - District Risk Management Initiative)
Funds provided through this 18-month grant will provide emergency
response training and
support for district and school staff, parents and community partners, as well
as, emergency
equipment and supplies.
Hewlett
Packard Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative
(2006 - Murray Middle School & Felix A.
Williams Elementary School)
The HP Technology for Teaching Grant
provides $30,000 in professional development and HP
equipment to K-12 public schools to use a collaborative, team-based approach
to implement
technology integration projects.
